IN THE PSYK LIGHT is Shane Renew AKA Deliriant.
This 26 year old has had a passion for music ever since he can remember. He started off DJing for fun while he was still at school and then went on to study sound engineering.
Deliriant’s music is powerful and energetic, riddled with dark, sneaky drops, banging bass-lines and, always, solid groove. Some even describe it as music from the future.
He’s traveled far and wide, delivering banging beats to the ears of many, and recently played at the Full Moon Culture in Lisbon, Portugal.
Listen to his set.
Also look out for Deadbeat FM:
the product of the unholy union between Johnny Rook (Piers) and Deliriant.
As of late, they’re finding inspiration in crossover sounds. Similar to those of Magitman, D-Nox & Beckers, Lish, Perfect Stranger, Khainz, Miki Litvak and many others.
Stay tuned, I have a feeling that these guys have big things in store for us.
Listen to Deadbeat FM.
I woke up to the exciting news on Friday morning that I was one of three lucky prizewinners for the Psymedia Giveaway I wrote about earlier this week (read it here). Upon arrival at Trinity, I received an awesome Multiverz hamper (that included 2 tickets to the Event, 4 Perfect Stranger CDs and 2 T-shirts). What a way to start the evening! Congratulations to the other prizewinners: Cheslyn Oliver and Casey Lynn Curtis. I hope you jammed as hard as I did. ______________________________________________________________ Snap shot I took. StereoType had Trinity pumping from the get-go, and warming up the crowd nicely before main attraction, Perfect Stranger, took center stage. The atmosphere on the dance-floor was truly incredible, there were happy faces all around. After 3 blissfully progressive hours, it was Dave Mac’s turn to make turn to keep the dance-floor buzzing ’til the lights came on. And he did. Dave was even kind enough to give the crowd “one last song!” Scott Rennie captured the evening’s events on camera. View the photo’s here.
As you can see, the eye-candy was out of this world. From the trippy decor to one of the best light shows I have ever experienced at a party, well done to ImageMasterBlink, SLAVE and MULTIVERZ for keeping us positively hypnotised.
All photo’s belong to Scott Rennie Photography.
Thank you to everyone involved; organizers and stompers. It was a magical night for all.

Just for fun…
Watch a snippet from this year’s Alien Safari: Masqued Ball.
Plusminus had the dancefloor stomping HEAVY with their Harlem Shake remix.
Sure enough, the Harlem Shake craze has died down but Mike Mike Van As and David Coe (aka Plusminus) remain a top players in keeping up with trends and making music that psyks up the dancefloor, both indoor and outdoor.
Another local psy sensation tearing up the city at the moment is, of course, The Commercial Hippies.
Who are they?
Anton Raubenheimer and Gareth Tacon.
Since their first release “where dreams come from” on Nano Records received such positive feedback, The Commercial Hippies have been flourishing and flourishing.
Check out their latest release, a remix of the super popular South African band LARK. It’s a personal favourite.
With so much happening in the city this weekend,
you have every reason to psyk your heart out.
